Divergent – Book 1
Book vs Movie review
Author:Veronica Roth
I have decided to do a comparison about the books vs movie regarding the Divergent Series. This review is about book 1 Divergent and I will wright a review comparing Insurgent, and Allegiance in the future. I am a big fan of this series and I have recently found out that they may not be completing the movie series for Allegiance part 2. Although this is very disappointing to me I will review as much of the last book as a can.
1st book in the series Divergent:
Beatrice is a 16 year old girl in a world that everyone is separate by there personality traits known as factions. Beatrice in conflicted because she has to choose what faction she wants to be a part of because the choosing ceremony is coming up and she needs to make a chose. Luckily she as an aptitude test that will guide her to make the correct chose, but her test came back inconclusive so the decision is put on her shoulders. Her family is abnegation and this faction is selfless, but she is excited about the prospect of dauntless because they are fearless. This story is about that chose that she makes, and about her becoming selfless, brave, fearless, and stronger then she ever thought she would be. You meet a few characters and of course she has a love interest that goes by the name of Four. Beatrice also known as Tris is put in a position when she needs to choose between faction or blood. Tris needs to decide how to save hundreds of lives, and to stop her friends from becoming murders while still protecting her self and her secret.
1st Movie Divergent:
I loved this movie to be honest. I felt like there were some parts from the book that was important and some characters that should have been portrayed in the movie that where strong characters in the book. Tris comes off as strong through the whole movie and even though she is very strong in the book she is also vulnerable and being vulnerable is not weakness but strength in its own right. I also felt like her and Four’s relationship could of been developed a little better. But this could also be because I am a romance junky and the book and movie seem to be more of a sci-fi, Fantasy and Tris is suppose to be strong on her own. I felt like the book had her relying on Four more then she did in the movie.
